On 30 December 2021, the marine viaduct of Cross Bay Link was successfully connected to Tseung Kwan O Marine Interchange of Tseung Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel.

at-grade road section of Road D9 is in progress while construction of deck and external walls are being carried out at the elevated section of Road D9. Moreover, construction of wave protection wall is ongoing. Structural works for the cycle track and footpath connecting Road D9 is in progress.

Erection works for all prefabricated components of the marine viaduct have been completed, indicating another step-forward to the completion of CBL project. The remaining works of bridging the gap between the CBL marine viaduct and Tseung Kwan O Interchange are in progress.

The second phase of erecting precast concrete box girders commenced on 7 June 2021.

The crane barge Xin Zhen Fu 7 was used to erect a precast concrete box girder onto the piers. Its lifting capacity is about 5,000 tonnes. It was the first time that Xin Zhen Fu 7 was deployed for Hong Kong infrastructure project.
Together with the one erected on 7 June 2021, a total of 10 precast concrete box girders have been erected, and the remaining 8 precast concrete box girders will soon be delivered to Hong Kong for subsequent erection.

Foundation works are being carried out at Wan O Road as well as at the cycle track and footpath connecting Road D9. Substructural works of the at-grade road section of Road D9 are in progress. The remaining structural construction works would continue at the elevated section of Road D9.

The construction of the cast-in-situ V-piers, pile caps in Junk Bay, and foundation and structural works at Wan O Road / Road D9 are in progress. The 400 metres long steel bridge of marine viaduct has a main span of 200 metres, which will become the longest single-spanned steel arch bridge in Hong Kong upon completion. The assembly of the deck and arch of the steel arch bridge was just completed in December 2020.

In the Public Works Subcommittee of the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council meeting on 19 March 2014, the Subcommittee supported the funding application for detailed design of this Project. The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding application of detailed design of the Project on 2 May 2014. 

The amendment scheme of the project was gazetted on 21 March 2014.

The detailed design of the project commenced in August 2014.

The Government published a notice in the Gazette on 21 November 2014 announcing that the Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O has been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.

2014

The project was gazetted on 10 May 2013 under Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Chapter 370).

The Environmental Permit was granted by the Director of Environmental Protection on 15 August 2013. 

2013

The recommended scheme was presented to Sai Kung District Council on 8 January 2013. Support from the District Council was obtained.
