Erection of the last precast concrete bridge segment of Tseung Kwan O Marine Interchange was completed on 21 May 2022.

Subsequent works, including construction of street furniture, erection of sign gantries of Traffic Control and Surveillance System and other associated facilities, are now proceeding.

On 30 December 2021, the marine viaduct of Cross Bay Link was successfully connected to Tseung Kwan O Marine Interchange of Tseung Kwan O － Lam Tin Tunnel.

Subsequent works, including the construction of street furniture, laying ducting of Traffic Control and Surveillance System and other associated facilities, are now proceeding steadily.

Works including connection between the marine viaduct of Cross Bay Link and Tseung Kwan O Marine Interchange, construction of street furniture, etc, are now in full swing.

Erection works for all prefabricated components of the marine viaduct have been completed, indicating another step-forward to the completion of CBL project. The remaining works of bridging the gap between the CBL marine viaduct and Tseung Kwan O Interchange are in progress.

The second phase of erecting precast concrete box girders commenced on 7 June 2021.

The crane barge Xin Zhen Fu 7 was used to erect a precast concrete box girder onto the piers. Its lifting capacity is about 5,000 tonnes. It was the first time that Xin Zhen Fu 7 was deployed for Hong Kong infrastructure project.
Together with the one erected on 7 June 2021, a total of 10 precast concrete box girders have been erected, and the remaining 8 precast concrete box girders will soon be delivered to Hong Kong for subsequent erection.

Double-arch steel bridge was erected on 26 February, marking a key milestone of the CBL project. The remaining prefabricated bridge components will soon be shipped to Hong Kong for erection.

The construction of the cast-in-situ V-piers, pile caps in Junk Bay, and foundation and structural works at Wan O Road / Road D9 are in progress. The 400 metres long steel bridge of marine viaduct has a main span of 200 metres, which will become the longest single-spanned steel arch bridge in Hong Kong upon completion. The assembly of the deck and arch of the steel arch bridge was just completed in December 2020.

Construction of V-pier, installation of precast pile-cap shell, erection of precast V-pier and precast box girder are in progress at Junk Bay. Fabrication of steel and concrete components of the main bridge at off-site yards in the Mainland is in progress. The heaviest and longest precast full span concrete box girder in Hong Kong was installed on V-piers at Junk Bay in August 2020.

Substructural works of at-grade road section of Road D9 are in progress. For elevated road section, construction of abutment and superstructure is in progress.

The foundation works for the main bridge were completed in January 2020. Fabrication of steel and concrete components of the main bridge at off-site yards in the Mainland is in progress. Erection of precast concrete V-piers and box girders are in progress at Junk Bay.

Pile caps are being constructed at Junk Bay. Bridge components of the marine viaduct are being fabricated at off-site yards in the Mainland.

Marine foundation works were substantially completed. Installation of pile-cap shells and casting of pile caps are in progress. Meanwhile, concrete and steel components of the marine viaduct are being fabricated at off-site yards in the Mainland. The construction of E&M plant room is in good progress.

The progress of marine bored-piling works is good. Precast pile-cap shells are being installed at Junk Bay. The concrete box girders of the marine viaduct is being produced at the fabrication yard in the Mainland. The construction of E&M plant room is being constructed in tandem.

The marine bored-piling works and the construction of E&M plant room are in good progress. The fabrication of pile-cap shells for the foundation of marine viaduct and box girders of the concrete bridge commenced.

The pre-drilling works for the foundation of the marine viaduct at Junk Bay are in progress. The marine bored-piling works also commenced.

We kicked off foundation works for the marine viaduct at Junk Bay, mainly pre-drilling works to determine the rock-head levels. Besides, construction of site accommodations at the works areas of Wan O Road is in progress.

Contract signing ceremony for Contract No. NE/2017/07 – Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O – Main Bridge and Associated Works was held on 8 August 2018.

The Cross Bay Link Main Bridge Contract commenced on 12 July 2018.

The wind tunnel tests were completed. Detailed design was substantially completed in end 2017.

Site investigation works for the proposed Cross Bay Link commenced in March 2015, was completed in November 2015, aiming to obtain necessary geological information for the detailed design works

In the Public Works Subcommittee of the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council meeting on 19 March 2014, the Subcommittee supported the funding application for detailed design of this Project. The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding application of detailed design of the Project on 2 May 2014. 

The amendment scheme of the project was gazetted on 21 March 2014.

The detailed design of the project commenced in August 2014.

The Government published a notice in the Gazette on 21 November 2014 announcing that the Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O has been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.

The recommended scheme was presented to Sai Kung District Council on 8 January 2013. Support from the District Council was obtained.

The Environmental Impact Assessment Report of Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O was exhibited for public to comment from 3 April to 2 May 2013. The Report was approved by the Director of Environmental Protection with conditions on 11 July 2013. 

The project was gazetted on 10 May 2013 under Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Chapter 370).

The Environmental Permit was granted by the Director of Environmental Protection on 15 August 2013. 

Carried out 3-stages public engagement activities during which a Design Idea Invitation Event had been conducted, and the winning ideas had been taken forward for design options development. After detailed evaluation, Eternity Arch option, finally selected as the Preferred Option, scored the highest and at the same time, it was the most welcomed option by locals as noted from Sai Kung District Council survey and public survey.
